It’s winter here in Grand Bend. The quiet season is a great time to work on those projects that the summer just never seems to have time for. One such project is sorting through old photos, slides or negatives. You know – the ones that are stashed in shoe boxes in closets or under the bed. They could be old prints inherited from family, old photos from when the kids were little, or slides of that amazing backpacking trip through Europe. Memories are made to be celebrated and shared and we can help with that. Our scanner can digitize old prints, slides and negatives. We can repair age spots, rips and wrinkles. We can even remove your ex son-in-law! Your newly rejuvenated file can then be printed on our quality photo paper or canvas and framed to suit. Our pricing for these services is very competitive, starting from only $10 to scan, repair and print. Free great grandma from the closet!
Janette Baillie is joining nine other artists for an exhibit in Grand Bend called the Creative Eye. It opens Friday Nov 18th, 5-9pm and continues Saturday and Sunday Nov 19th and 20th from 11am to 6pm both days. Everyone is invited – a great chance to see new work by these diverse artists and get a head start on your holiday gift buying.
Janette is our resident photographer. One of her favourite subjects to capture is Lake Huron, in all its moods, and especially as the sun sets and the sky lights up with vivid colour.
Janette’s photos range from realism to painterly. She loves to play with light, colour and form.
Janette’s photos are printed here at Baillie’s using our top quality inks and fine art papers and canvas. They can be printed in any size, and custom framed to suit your decor. She also supplies digital images for websites, calendars, brochures and other advertising media.

Baillie’s is once again organizing the Grand Bend Studio tour. This tour has over 30 artists in a variety of studio and gallery locations. Artists who work in two dimensional painting, glass, pottery, metal, wood and photography invite you to view their newest work and discuss the artistic process with them. In addition to the artists, the weekend will feature music at a variety of venues in Grand Bend, and some culinary specials as area chefs introduce their new spring menus. All in all, it’s a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the arts. Maps and brochures will be available at Baillie’s, as well as online at the studio tour website.
Baillie’s will be hosting three artists during the studio tour weekend. Laura Wright will be showing her latest work in collage, coloured pencil, pastel and acrylic. Janette Baillie is a Grand Bend photographer who will be hanging some of her famous sunsets and waterscapes during the studio tour. Barb McKnight works in oils, watercolours and acrylics to produce beautifully intimate paintings. Come and meet Laura, Janette and Barb, view their newest work and enjoy some refreshments at Baillie’s during the studio tour.
If you are a photographer, you know how important it is to print your work with quality paper and ink. Here at Baillie’s, we use a wide angle Epson printer, with archival Epson inks. We have a variety of Epson photo papers in mat, semi gloss or gloss finishes. We also stock other specialty papers on demand. We also offer printing on canvas, using good quality, thick canvas and real wood stretcher bars that won’t warp or sag. If quality is as important to you as it is to us, contact us for pricing. You’ll find our pricing very reasonable, especially when getting multiples of the same image. Your satisfaction is very important to us. As one of our customers puts it:
Baillie’s has some great photography hanging in the gallery from now until December 24th. The show features three local photographers who demonstrate the effect of living by Lake Huron in their artistic vision. Sarah Chisholm grew up by Lake Huron in an extended family of artists. Her painterly vision is evident in her photographs and digital art. Derek Houston grew up surrounded by the sea in the Scottish Isles, but is now enjoying life on Lake Huron. Derek captures the moods of the Lake during the off season, when the tourists are gone, but there is still much to see and admire. Janette Baillie is drawn to colour. Her stunning sunsets and beach scenes capture the beauty of the Lake Huron shoreline.
Join us for this wonderful show, now until December 24th!
